Hotwired German Shorthaired Pointers is a small family of people and dogs located in Garden City, MI. Our puppies are family raised and bred for correct conformation per the breed standard, superior trainability with a strong hunting desire. Our puppies are suitable for Show, Field, Agility, obedience with the priority being family member

Some History...

My father introduced my family to the German Shorthaired Pointer. I didn't care at the time, it was a dog! When I moved out "on my own" I decided I wanted my own dog. After researching just about every breed recognized by the AKC, i again chose a GSP. I just couldn't find a dog that was more suited to me! Chastain's Lucille of Louisville "Lucy" was my first. If i knew then what I know now! I just picked up the newspaper and found a puppy, saw her and fell in love.

I had big plans of competing with her in obedience. At 4 months of age, she began having trouble walking. After a heartbraking diagnosis of severe hip displaysia, she just became a very obedient and deservedly spoiled pet. For all the pain she felt, you never knew. She was the most loving dog accepting anything life threw at her. She lost her battle with life in July, 2004. She is missed by all who knew her.

Growing up i always wanted to have a "show dog" but i never knew how to get started. One day, Rob came home and asked me if I wanted to go to a dog show at the Novi Expo Center. We loaded up the family and off we went! Looking around the show site for any GSP i could find, i ran into Neil Ritter walking one. He invited us to his set up and introduced us to Louise Krasicki. Both Louise and Neil took time out of their busy day to explain dog show life. Louise asked if I was interested in a puppy and she showed me a picture! Next thing I knew I was making a trip to see this puppy. Welcome Heidabrandt's It's A Misty Lu "Misty" to our family. I have learned so much from this puppy! It took a lot of work and LOTS of help from lots of people, but she is now CH Heidabrant's it's A Misty Lu! Sue Branch, Jen Miller and Kim Keyer helped in ways too numerous to mention. Now we are training in agillity, obedience and hunt tests.

With all of the knowledge that I have been gaining over the past 30 plus years (owning GSPS), my next venture is to start the Hotwired line of German Shorthaired Pointers. My goal is to breed to standard and beyond! Concentrating on temprament, conformation and hunting ability. This is a great breed! I made a promise to Lucy to do my part to see that no other GSP has to endure the pain she did. No breeding will take place until genetic testing is complete!
